Extension Activities
SHEAT College of Polytechnic, Varanasi, was established in 2012 at the Babatpur campus of the SHEAT Group. It offers 3-year (6-semester) diploma programmes affiliated to the Board of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh (BTEUP) and approved by AICTE. The college was founded with the aim of providing employment-oriented, value-based education to students, including those from rural areas. Extension activities carry this aim beyond the campus.
What Are Extension Activities?
Extension activities are programmes in which students and faculty work with the local community. They help students understand social issues and use their technical knowledge for the benefit of society.
Types of Extension Activities
- Awareness programmes on cleanliness, health, safety and the environment
- Tree plantation and green campus drives
- Digital literacy and basic technical awareness for the community
- Programmes on road safety, electrical safety and energy saving
- Participation in national campaigns and observance days
Learning for Students
By taking part, students develop empathy, communication skills and a sense of social responsibility. Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Science students can relate their branch knowledge to real community needs.
Participation
Extension activities are coordinated by faculty members and the Dean of Students' Activities. Students who wish to volunteer should register with their department.
