Exam Rules and Regulations

Ensuring transparency, discipline, and academic excellence in examinations

Saraswati Higher Education & Technical College of Paramedical follows examination rules and regulations prescribed by the concerned nursing and regulatory authorities to ensure fairness, transparency, discipline, and quality assessment of students.

Students are expected to strictly follow all academic and examination guidelines throughout the duration of the programme.

1. Attendance Requirement

  • Students must maintain the required attendance in theory and practical classes.
  • Minimum attendance generally required:
    • 80% attendance in theory classes.
    • 100% attendance in clinical/practical training.

2. Internal Assessment Rules

  • Internal assessment carries 25 marks in theory subjects.
  • Students must obtain at least 13 out of 25 marks to become eligible for final examinations.

3. Practical Record & Clinical Work

  • Completion of practical records, case studies, and clinical postings is compulsory.
  • Students must regularly maintain logbooks and practical files.

4. Passing Criteria

  • Minimum passing marks required:
    • 50% in theory examinations.
    • 50% in practical examinations.
  • Separate pass is required in internal and external examinations wherever applicable.

5. Grading System

  • Distinction : 80% and above
  • First Division : 70% – 79%
  • Second Division : 60% – 69%
  • Pass : 50% and above

6. Practical Examination Rules

  • Practical examinations are conducted in hospitals or clinical laboratories.
  • External and internal examiners are appointed for examinations.
  • Students must wear proper nursing uniform during practical examinations.
  • Practical records and logbooks must be submitted before examinations.

7. Supplementary Examination

  • Students who fail in one or more subjects may appear in supplementary examinations.
  • Supplementary examinations are generally conducted within 6 months to 1 year as per board regulations.

8. Promotion to Next Year

  • Students may be promoted according to board or university rules.
  • Eligibility for promotion depends upon academic performance and attendance.

9. Examination Hall Rules

  • Students must carry admit card and identity card.
  • Students should reach the examination hall before reporting time.
  • Discipline and silence must be maintained inside the examination hall.
  • Use of unfair means or malpractice is strictly prohibited.
  • Mobile phones, smart watches, books, and electronic gadgets are not allowed.

10. Malpractice & Disciplinary Action

  • Use of unfair means may lead to cancellation of examination.
  • Students may face suspension from examinations.
  • Debarment from future examinations may be imposed.
  • Further disciplinary action may be taken by institute authorities.

11. Revaluation / Rechecking

  • Students may apply for rechecking of answer sheets.
  • Students may also apply for revaluation and photocopy of answer sheets.
  • Applications must be submitted within the prescribed timeline along with required fees.

12. Internship Requirements

  • Successful completion of internship and clinical training is mandatory for final certification.
  • Attendance during internship must be maintained as prescribed by the Nursing Council.

13. Certification

  • Students must successfully complete theory examinations.
  • Students must successfully complete practical examinations.
  • Completion of internship training is compulsory.
  • After successful completion, students are awarded the G.N.M. Diploma and become eligible for registration with the respective U.P. State Nursing Council.
