B.Pharm and M.Pharm Programmes (AKTU – As per Latest Ordinance & PCI Norms)

Regulatory Framework

• Both B.Pharm and M.Pharm programmes are governed by PCI Education Regulations and implemented through AKTU ordinances.
• The system follows a semester-based CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) with credit and grade-based evaluation.

Examination System

• B.Pharm: 8 semesters (4 years)
• M.Pharm: 4 semesters (2 years)
• Each semester includes:
  • Internal assessment
  • End-semester (external) examination
  • Practical and viva voce examinations

Eligibility for Examination

• Minimum 75% attendance in each subject (theory and practical separately)
• Completion of all sessional work, assignments, and practical records
• Submission of examination form within prescribed time

Scheme of Evaluation

• Internal Assessment conducted by institute
• External Examination conducted by AKTU
• Final evaluation based on combined performance

Passing Criteria

B.Pharm

• Minimum 50% marks in aggregate (internal + external) in theory subjects
• Minimum passing marks in external examination (generally 40%)
• Minimum 50% marks in practical/laboratory examinations
• Minimum SGPA of 5.0 to pass a semester

M.Pharm

• Minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade in each subject
• Separate passing in theory and practical components
• Dissertation and viva voce mandatory to pass

Grading and Credit System

• Letter grades awarded based on marks obtained
• SGPA and CGPA calculated through credit-weighted system
• Promotion and degree award depend on credits earned

Carry Over (Back Paper) Rules

• Students failing in any subject will have carry over (back paper)
• Reappearance allowed in subsequent examinations
• Degree awarded only after clearing all subjects and credits

Promotion Rules

• Students promoted based on credit-based progression system
• Excessive backlog may lead to detention as per AKTU ordinance

Maximum Duration

• B.Pharm: Maximum duration typically 8 years
• M.Pharm: Maximum duration typically 4 years
• Failure to complete within prescribed duration results in discontinuation

Attendance Requirement

• Minimum 75% attendance mandatory
• Relaxation only under approved exceptional conditions

Unfair Means (UFM)

• Strict prohibition of cheating or misconduct
• Penalties include:
  • Cancellation of examination
  • Award of zero marks
  • Debarment from future examinations

Re-evaluation / Challenge Evaluation

• Students may apply for scrutiny or challenge evaluation
• Revised result shall be treated as final

Project Work and Training

B.Pharm

• Industrial training mandatory
• Final year includes project work and viva voce

M.Pharm

• Dissertation (research project) compulsory
• Evaluation includes:
  • Internal assessment
  • External evaluation
  • Viva voce

Award of Degree

• Successful completion of all semesters
• Earning required credits
• Passing all theory, practical, and project components
